December 12, 2025. At EnviroGold, we talk about “metals without mining”.
Of course, primary mining will always be required. But there is an enormous amount of value locked up in historic and current tailings around the world, measured in trillions of dollars of unrecovered metals globally.
By applying advanced hydrometallurgy, process optimization, and digital modelling, our NVRO Process™ is designed to:
- Recover precious, base, and critical metals from sulphidic tailings
- Reduce sulphide and acid-generating content, lowering AMD risk and long-term liabilities
- Shrink the volume of material requiring long-term storage
- Deliver an attractive economic return via a capital-light licensing and royalty model
This is not just an environmental story. It is a margin and risk story.
Every ounce of metal we recover from tailings:
- Generates revenue from material that was historically written off
- Reduces the footprint and risk profile of tailings assets
- Improves alignment with GISTM objectives and ESG expectations
- Strengthens a miner’s social licence and access to capital
Alignment with Global Policy and Investor Expectations
Governments and capital markets are reinforcing this direction:
- The United States and Australia have formalized a Critical Minerals Framework that explicitly references mining, processing, and recycling as strategic pillars of supply security
- The European Union’s Critical Raw Materials Act emphasizes domestic processing and circular economy approaches, including the recovery of metals from waste streams to reduce import dependency
- ESG investors, insurers, and lenders increasingly scrutinize tailings practices, pushing for both safety and innovation, not just minimum compliance
In this context, tailings reprocessing is no longer a “nice to have”. It is emerging as a core strategy for responsible operators who want to:
- De-risk their tailings portfolio
- Participate in critical minerals supply chains
- Demonstrate leadership under GISTM and GTMI frameworks
- Unlock new sources of growth and recurring revenue
EnviroGold’s Role in the Future of Tailings
My objective is to ensure EnviroGold is not only aligned with this new era of tailings governance, but helping to define it.
Our role is not to replace GTMI or GISTM. Our role is to complement them by offering miners a way to:
- Comply more effectively through smaller, safer, and less hazardous tailings facilities
- Create value by recovering metals that would otherwise remain stranded
- Looking ahead, I believe the companies that will stand out to regulators, communities, and investors will be those that:
- Embrace independent standards and transparency through GISTM and GTMI
- Invest in technologies that fundamentally reduce the long-term tailings problem rather than simply managing it
EnviroGold intends to be one of those companies.
The launch of the Global Tailings Management Institute is a landmark in our industry’s evolution. It provides the assurance framework and accountability the world expects.
Our responsibility now is to go further. To innovate, to deploy, and to prove that economic performance and environmental responsibility can reinforce each other.
That is the purpose of EnviroGold’s NVRO Process™ and the guiding principle behind our strategy: turning mine waste into sustainable metal supply while reducing the environmental burden of tailings for generations to come.
I look forward to sharing more in future posts about the projects, partnerships, and innovations helping to bring this vision to life.
